Salt & Light

I am an Elementary STEM teacher at Southern Maryland Christian Academy. I love that I get to spend my day talking to my students about Jesus and doing STEM activities. Why “We are Salt & Light?” As Christians, we are called to be salt & light (Matthew 5:13-16) to the world around us. Why “We are STEM?” According to the National Academy of Sciences, science, technology, engineering, and math permeate nearly every facet of modern life. They also hold the key to meeting many of humanity’s most pressing current and future challenges. STEM is much more than just a grouping of subject areas. It is a movement to develop the deep mathematical and scientific foundations students need to become competitive in the 21st-century workforce. STEM develops a set of thinking, reasoning, teamwork, investigative, and creative skills that students can use in all areas of their lives. It is my goal to better equip my students to be salty scientists and bright engineers.
